(1997-1998)

The owners of this thirteen acre parcel in the Texas Hill Country bought the land on sight when they first took in the view of the Blanco River which runs along its eastern edge. The house they requested was to take full advantage of this river frontage without compromising the wild character of the setting.

The project became a linear group of three buildings whose rooms all gave onto a continuous porch along the river view. The proximity to the river required, in order to capture the view and sound of the water, meant that the structure had to be elevated. This being done, the house appears detached from the land as it sits on round concrete piers which lend it a dynamic character it would otherwise lack.
